The painter Marta Sanjurjo was born in Paraná (Entre Ríos) Argentina. Her paintings represent the Tango culture. This dance appeared first at the end of the 19th century in "The popular bars of Buenos Aires" and were refractions of the lives of the people. In the first decades of the 20th century The Tango became famous in the upper classes, in a form that was less liberal and less erotic. Today the Argentine Tango is world famous and is considered one of the fundamental aspects of the Argentine culture. For Marta Sanjurjo, The Tango and its history are a source of inspiration for her works of art.

The nom of the painting "Caminito" comes from a street with the same name in a barrio of Buenos Aires. This is where all the immigrants landed when they arrived to Buenos Aires. The houses with metal rooves are painted with bright colors and are a designated tourist destination. It is here, where the tango was born and still lives. Marta Sanjurjo chose "Caminito! because of its bright colors and because it is fun, magic and symbolic.
